So how does a life-long Real Estate junkie finally come to terms with her addiction? Work in the field of Real Estate, of course. (It’s either this, or some very expensive psychotherapy!) The path to such a career was not straight (or narrow) but I am liking the journey. . .degreed in Phychology (thus not a huge believer in the efficacy of psychotherapy). . .experienced in sales. . .former high school teacher. . .started a Masters in Education. . .part time artist (silversmithing is the medium of choice). . .quite a path. But, through the twists and turns, Real Estate has been a constant interest.
Since childhood, I have been fancinated by homes and how people live. Why do they build what they do? Why do they buy what they do? This curiousity grew into a study of the local real estate markets. . .what is for sale?. . .how much?. . .how does it compare with homes in the area?. . .who bought it?. . . who is building what? Ahhh. . .the obsession surfaces!
To tame the angry beast, I became a licensed Realtor through the prodding of Debbie Olson of Radcliffe Realty. Off to a swift start, I fell in love with the business! I noticed quickly, however, that in my corner of the world Real Estate is approached in a fairly traditional manner. List a home, put up a sign, put it in the MLS, load a few photos, have an open house, run an ad. . .if it doesn’t sell, then drop the price. I quickly became adept at identifying the houses that would sell quickly. Those were the ones that were prepped by the owners. Well maintained, stylishly decorated, clutter free, attractive. . .in a word “STAGED”
Home staging is common practice in many areas of the US and Canada, why not here? I soon discovered that no one in the area offers staging services. . .One Savvy Move, is my solution! I created this company to help homeowners sell for TOP DOLLAR and quickly! The nicest houses sell first, and many Realtors and homeowners are unaware of how to really capture a buyers interest. Staging is key to pulling in the best offers. It is a cost effective way to push a home to the top of its potential price range. Ah. . . a melding of my passion for Real Estate and my creative skills . . .the perfect career and life.
